nostalgia for the old, excitement for the new

05-13-25 Today was a nice day. I reached out to a lot of old OW fashion show players to see if they'd like to be showcased in my shrine. More people than I expected said yes and even offered to help! Ngl it was a little infectious to talk to people and get excited responses. It was really reassuring to realize it wasn't just me feeling the loss of OurWorld for this long. It does feel a little weird to collab on my shrine since I haven't seen that anywhere else on neocities... maybe instead of a shrine it's more of a community archive - a place to reminisce and create even more fond memories from a dead game that brought us all joy and comfort. My shrines truly act as more of an archive than anything else but I like it that way 😆 I like getting lost exploring the things I poured hours into with no end in sight and appreciating the details! Ahhh I miss OurWorld so much minus the drama and the hackers and the scammers and the buggy client and the racists and the overpriced items in the marketplace and the whole trading culture and the weird cliques and the way I could never complete my wave warrior set.

My sister found a scorpion in her room today which was wild because I've never seen one in my life, much less in my apartment. We concocted this whole scheme to get it out without getting stung. It involved a Swiffer broom, a cat scratch box (pad?), a lid, and oven mitts. Since she's scared of bugs I bravely knocked the scorpian from the wall into the cat scratch box, covered it with the lid, then ran outside and threw it over our balcony -proud-. But now I'm worried more will come in the future. In my last unit I would keep finding dead roaches around even after I deep cleaned or called pest control. That's not happening now but the scorpion feels like a bad omen...

scorpian!! it was so small but we were so scared

Media wise I've been looking forward to World Street Woman Fighter (WSWF) & the newest season of D20 - Skyward, Ho! It's always a good time with the Intrepid Heros. The last season with them (i think Junior Year?) left me unsatisfied because of the light-hearted attitude everyone at the table in the last 2 episodes which was the climax of the season. I was having a lot of fun theorizing about the big bad but when I saw them just kinda joke through the last 2 fights I felt like it was all for nothing. The jokes were funny tho, I still rewatch the last episode just to see Ally's game breaking nat 20 -laugh-. But story wise I'm not really invested in anything that'll happen in Senior year other than Chungledown Bim's inevitable return. Now, waiting for WSWF to air is a dreadful and exciting experience. I vehemently hate the way MNET edits each episode to make them 2 hours long, and zooms in so far when dancers are performing that you can't even see their whole movement, and how they manufacture drama between crews that doesn't even exist. But god damn do I love to see some pretty women get down. I've been obsessively rewatching BTS videos of Motiv & AG Squad to get SOMETHING right now! The show doesn't release until the 27th (i think?) and I'm literally counting down the days. I hate this, free me! But don't because I need to see everything! I was the same way last season with Jam Republic 😩. I'm making a shrine for them too in the future hehehehe! My favorite from the BTS content right now is Motiv - their genuine hip-hop groove, expressions, and ease is just a joy to see after watching S1 & S2 with the majority of South Korean dancers looking stiff in any hip-hop choreo.

Ugh getting through those seasons having to just ingest the cultural appropriation thrown around was NOT fun. I can't even count on one hand how many South Koreans I saw with a durag on... But this is the only show that I know of that showcases talented dancers and gives enough time to learn about the majority of them. How much are we actually learning that's true and not some persona MNET crafted for them? Idk . This show has really shown me that I have the ability to be a lover and a hater at the same time.

Anyways, that's all for now!
