Instead of using a star rating system I use
experience bars/icons. Each color is associated with a set of
emotions/feelings and instead of rating a piece of media I mark what
emotions I experienced. Rating with stars has never felt truly
reflective of my experience since I recall the emotions I felt while
watching/reading/listening before I remember any other details, so
that's what inspired this system! The color-feeling associations
aren't concrete and will change many many times.
